James A. Courtney, age 86, of Cridersville passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Auglaize Acres Nursing Home. He was born July 21, 1930 in Lima to the late Howard L. and Hazel Jones Courtney. He married Anna Mary Long Jan. 17, 1952 and she preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2010.
Jim graduated from St. Rose High School in 1948 and had been a toolmaker for Ford Motor Company. He had been a member of the Good Sam RV Club and enjoyed doing home improvements and working on computers.
Survivors include a daughter Barbara Ann Good of Venedocia, 9 grandchildren: Sean (Ginny Marbaugh) Poling, Brendan (Jennifer) Poling, Heather Anne (Kevin) Matthews, Ian (Leah) Good, Colin Good, Meaghan E. Good, Dejah Rae (James) Rowland, Nicole Suzanne (Darren) Smith and Onda (Aaron) Reinhart, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, a half-brother Jere Courtney a half-sister Jill Courtney and a son-in-laws Paul Metzger and Charles Good both of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Nancy Susan Metzger July 8, 2010, a grandson Brian Poling, a great grandchild, brothers: Lyle, Dean and Richard Courtney and a sister Margaret Kimble.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Sat. March 18 at the funeral home with Father Pat Sloneker officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Mary’s, Ohio.
