James R. Nugent age 86, of Lima and formerly of Albion, MI died 1:00 p.m., April 12 at his residence. He was born March 14, 1927 in Albion, MI to James and Della Smith Nugent. He married Bonnie Davis Aug. 12, 1950 and she preceded him in death Sept. 4, 1986.
Mr. Nugent was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He retired from BOC after 30 years of service. He was a member of 3 bowling leagues at Westgate Lanes and 20 th Century Lanes. He was also a past Exalted Ruler of the Albion Elks. He was a WW II Navy Veteran having served in the Pacific Theater.
Survivors include 2 sons: Kenneth E. Nugent of Seneca, SC and Dr. Mark A. Nugent of Ann Arbor, MI, a brother: Thomas Nugent of Miami, FL, a sister: Dixie Stancroft of Houghton, MI, a granddaughter Michelle Marie Nugent of Columbia, SC and a step grandson Chad Whitta of Pensacola, FL.
He was preceded in death by a sister Joyce Dowland.
A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 3rd at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Albion, MI, Father Joseph Gray officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
