Jere A. Winegardner, age 71 of Cridersville, joined his wife in heaven, Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010. He was born May 26, 1938 in Allen County, Ohio. He is the son of Gene L. “Shorty” and Kathryn Ridinger Winegardner. Both parents are deceased. On June 22, 1956 he married Eleanor V. Winegardner- the love of his life, who died March 29, 2007.
Mr. Winegardner was a farmer and a retired service manager with Harvey Equipment in Van Wert. He was a member of Hume United Methodist Church, Hume. He cherished spending time with his family and especially the grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time farming. He had a passion for go kart racing, building motors and had won many races. He had a wonderful time racing with his buddies and watching his son race in Barnesville, Georgia. He had also served in the U. S. Navy reserve.
He is survived by 6 children – Diane E. (Rick) Cobb of Mill Valley, CA; Dale Amy Glover (Tim) of Waynesfield; Dee L. (Terry) Steffen of Pandora; Dawn E. (Doug) Lambert of Wapakoneta; Dean W. (Pam) Winegardner of Lady Lake, FL; Dara K. (Rich) Moritz of Wapakoneta; 1 son-in-law – Clint Hart of Brandon, MS; 21 grandchildren – Tony Cobb, Derek Stein, Danielle Stein, Emily Glover, Eric Glover, Annie Glover, Jennifer (Jesse) Crowe, Jeremy Steffen, Andrew Steffen, Philip Schneider, Brianna Lambert, Alexa Lambert, Steven (Dori) Smith, Kevin (Brooke) Smith, David (Jessica) Smith, Michele Winegardner, Lyndsey Winegardner; Christian Hart, Shelby Hart, Joshua Moritz, and Ella Moritz; 7 great grandchildren – Braden Smith, Chandler Smith, Dalton Smith, Stevie Smith, Ashlyn Smith, Elisa Cobb, and Audriana Jones; 1 brother – Joe E. (Mary) Winegardner of Yardley, PA; 1 brother-in-law and 7 sister-in-laws.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Dena R. Hart.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 in Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Ben Mitchell, Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home,
Memorial contributions may be given to Hume United Methodist Church.
