James D. Tate age 78, of Cridersville passed away 6:58 p.m., Monday, January 11, 2021. He was born Dec. 18, 1942 in Ottawa to the late Dean Culp and Bernadine Leona Harrington Tate. He married Rosemary June Dennison and she survives in Cridersville.
Jim had been a member of Local Union 329 and had worked at the refinery. He was a member of Church on the Rock and enjoyed going to Golden Corral. Jim enjoyed raising dogs and was the owner operator of Tate-Laurents Builders. He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed building Houses and churches.
Additional survivors include a son Brian (Jennie) Tate of Lima, a daughter Candice Petrotte of Cincinnati, step-children: Cindy (Neal) Antill, of Lexington, OH, Jeff (Betty) Sprague of Florida, John (Thelma) Sprague of Lima, Kim (Tim) Wireman of Lima and Pam (Steve) Benfield of Lima, grandchildren: Ava, Sophia, Carrie, Amanda, Tara, JJ, Oliver, John, Sherri, Sarah, Tim, Kristi, Jeff and Amy, 13 great grandchildren and several great-great- grandchildren, brother Mike (Pam) Tate of Waynesfield, sister-in-law Merril Tate of Oregon State and his fur baby Itty Bitty.
He was preceded in death by a brother Bill Tate and a sister Dorothy Tate.
A memorial service will be 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17, at Union Hall 329 on Dixie Hwy. Pastor Tom Snyder will officiate. Burial of cremated remains will be in Hartford Cemetery at a later date.
