Joan Hunt, age 90, passed away on Monday march 2 at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, Monroe, Ohio. She was born August 17, 1924 in Lima to Owen and Martha Moran who preceded her in death. Joan met Roger Hunt while both working at the Lima News after Roger returned from the Army after World War II. On June 22, 1946 they were married and he preceded her in death February 5, 2005.
After getting her children off to school, Joan joined Stolly Insurance in 1963, where she was the Claims Manager until she retired in 1986. She was a fabulous cook who loved cards, Scrabble, old movies and babysitting her grandchildren. She also loved her cat, Rosie, who was her companion until the end.
Joan and Roger made many sacrifices in raising their six children the best way they knew how. Their lives revolved entirely around their children and grandchildren. Their family will always be eternally grateful to their parents for their sacrifices, guidance and everlasting love.
She is survived by 6 children: Cindy Wright, Lima, John (Aileen) Hunt, Perrysburg, Maureen (Gary) Wolf, Hamilton, Susan (Nick) DeGrands, Lima, Anne (Tom) Schenk, Middletown and Julie (Keith) Jordan of Lima; 9 grandchildren: Erin Laffrey, Sara Jones, Marc DeGrands, Kyle Wolf, Katie Thomas, Adrienne DeGrands, Alison Schenk, Elizabeth Howey and Maggie Hunt, 9 great grandchildren: Charlotte and Colson Laffrey, Mary, Agatha, Peter, Christopher and Michael Jones and Harper and Reese Wolf who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Scullin and a brother Owen ‘Bud’ Moran. Joan will be cremated with no visitation. A memorial mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 4 at St. Gerards Catholic Church, Lima with Celebrant Father James Szobonya. After which she will rejoin her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia.
