Joan May Bowersock age 97, of Lima passed away 7:11 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at home. She was born June 6, 1926 to the late George and Doris (Hollister) Thompson. On October 26, 1951 she married Richard D, Bowersock and he passed October 8, 2000.
Joan was a homemaker. Before being married her main love was figure skating, giving her plenty of memories. After marriage, she traveled the world and experienced many of life’s adventures and memories alongside her husband serving in the military and talked about them to this day. In 1969, she returned to Lima where she remained very close to family. She loved playing cards with her sisters, making puzzles, and watching the Gaithers. She really loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and sister Jeannette’s family. She loved taking nightly rides with her sons around local areas. She enjoyed playing mahjong, and watching America’s Got Talent, as long as she had brownies and Mounds bars.
She is survived by 3 sons – Gregory Bowersock, Robin Bowersock, and Jeffery (Brenda) Bowersock all of Lima, Ohio. Along with 16 grandchildren – Rick (Ashley) Bowersock of Pendleton, IN; Ryan (Kelly) Bowersock, Gregory (Jeannie) Bowersock, Bill (Deb) Bowersock, Jeny Bowersock, Christy (Nick) Taylor, Shelley (Mike) Pence of Waynesfield, Oh; Melissa Bowersock, Robby (Mercediez) Bowersock of Lima, along with 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son – Richard D. Bowersock, and a daughter-in-law – Cheryl Bowersock; her brothers and sisters – Myron Thompson, Everette (Dorothy) Thompson, Leslie (Freda) Thompson, Gale (Beau), Jeannette (Dick), Lila (Joseph); her father and mother-in-law – Lewis (Carolyn Bowersock), Ralph (Clella) Bowersock, Lois (Roy) Posey, Lila Bowersock, Eunice (Marion) Ritter, Jennie (Leonard) Spacht, Norma (Donald) Green, Robert (Dorothy) Bowersock.
Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Brian Robertson will officiate. Burial will follow in Buckland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
