Our prayers are with your family. Carolyn Miller Elias posted on 2/12/22We Goodwin cousins always had so much fun at Grandpa and Grandma Godwin’s farm for the holidays. Time moves on and we move thru life on our separate journeys but with treasured fond memories. My condolences to Joannies family. She and I shared the questionable privilege of being the only girls with a bunch of ornery brothers. Surviving all the teasing was a challenge and we were/are strong adult women. Sincere sympathy to her family and friends. Peace to all of you. I will always remember the first time I met Joanne. I was the first girlfriend of her oldest brother, Ron, to be brought to their home and I think she knew we were pretty serious about each other. Her Mom told me much later that this was difficult for Joanne since she had always been the only girl in her 3 big brother's lives. I know that Ronnie used to pay her a quarter to rub his back. (That was big money back in the '60s.) And Ronnie took full advantage of that .25 cent backrub by having her do it for anywhere from l/2 hour to an hour (LOL). Joanne was a beautiful young lady with gorgeous long red hair! Ron had been a red-head also and I always hoped that at least one of our children would have red hair, but that did not happen. A cute story: Ron was the oldest of the 3 boys and I think he was in 1st or 2nd grade when Joanne was born. Ron had red hair also & sometimes got teased by other boys about it. His Dad told him, "You just wait because you are going to have a red-headed sister to match your red hair." Now that was quite a statement back then when no one knew what their baby's sex would be, let alone the color of the hair! Well, by golly, Ronnie was thrilled when Joanne was born with red hair just like his!
