John A. Patterson age 81, of Wapakoneta passed away Sunday, Nov. 27 at his residence. He was born Sept. 21, 1941 in Lima to the late Wallace Irwin and Mary Elizabeth (Fifer) Patterson, Sr., John never married.
John graduated from Lima Senior in 1959 and went to work at Ford. He retired after 36 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 1533 Indian Lake and Eagles Lodge 691 of Wapak. John enjoyed bowling, winning the Lima City Singles Tournament twice and is a member of the Lima bowling hall of fame. He also enjoyed fishing and was a member of Brant’s Fishing Club.
Survivors include a sister Alice Bercaw of Lima, nieces: Kathy Wolfe, Elizabeth A. Collins, Tish Wolfe, Shannon White, Mary Thomas, Mary Stanley, Patricia Stevens, Loren Hire and Chloe Sember; nephews: Jerry Hire, Pat Hire, Tim Beck, Riley Hire and Tom Stevens; Zachary Hire and Andy Hire and close friends: Cody, Amy and Doug Jones.
He was preceded in death by a brother Wallace ‘Bruzz’ Patterson, Jr., sister Patty Ann Patterson; nieces Bonnie Holtzapple and Jeanne Boyer and a nephew Mike Eldridge.
The family will receive friends noon to 2 Thursday, Dec. 8 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and the funeral service will be at 2 with Pastor Kent Place officiating and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
