John L. Miller, Jr., age 84, of Lima died 2:38 p.m., Sunday Jan. 4 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born May 23, 1930 in Lima to the late John Lawrence and Pearl Arizona Roberts Miller. He married Barbara Ann Williams Dec. 26, 1951 and she survives in Lima.
Mr. Miller had pastored Abundant Life Temple for 45 years, had been a home builder, machinist at Clark Equipment Co. and co-founder of Miller Brothers Tire Service. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie and gardening. He was a family man and especially enjoyed his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Additional survivors include 4 children: Deborah Kay Sockrider of Lima, Barbara Ann (Jeff) Herron of Lima, John Vernon (Valerie) Miller of North Port, FL and Jill Lynne (John) Kirchner of Waynesfield, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, siblings – Erma (Ron, deceased) Gross of Wapakoneta; Shirley (Mike) Stanley of OK; Helen (Whitey) Gross of Wapakoneta; Ronald (Cheryl) Miller of Columbus; Richard (Betty) Miller of Lima; in-laws – Bob Pitchford of Lima; Betty Miller of Lima; Sue Miller of Wapakoneta; Shirley Miller of Cridersville, and Marian Miller of Lima.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Eldon, Roger,Larry, Robert ,Don, Mary Lou, Carrie, and Ruth Miller, Judy Stuber, Betty Eberle and Marcella Pitchford.
The family will receive friends Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral service will be noon, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
