Joseph A. ‘Joe’ Rhodes age 79, of Lima passed away 3:27 a.m., April 14, 2017 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1937 in Lima to the late Walter and Clarabelle Young Rhodes. Joseph A. ‘Joe’ Rhodes age 79, of Lima passed away 3:27 a.m., April 14, 2017 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born December 18, 1937 in Lima to the late Walter and Clarabelle Young Rhodes. He married Mary ‘May’ McLachlan Oct. 26, 1957 and she survives in Lima.
Joe graduated from Lima Senior High School and joined the Air Force. Following his military time, he went to work for Ford Motor Company for 40 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Lima Moose, Eagles and Elks. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. Being able to tour the states in bowling tournaments. He also loved to mow, helping his neighbors with this chore.
Additional survivors include 3 children: Debra Beair, Sonia (Charles) Stockton and Kim (Pat) Weis all of Lima, 6 grandchildren: Amber (Paul) Holbrook, Marie (Travis) McBride, Sonya McDaniel, Alyssa Weis and Joe Beair and Emily Weis; 6 great grandchildren: Makayla Holbrook, Michael Holbrook, Katelynn Irby, Taylor Holbrook, Aaliyah Rust and Angel McDaniel; 3 siblings: Charles Rhodes, Kathryn Hedrick both of Cridersville and Becky Jones of Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends noon to 2:30 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church Wednesday April 19, 2017. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 and burial will be in St. Matthew Cemetery.
