Joy Y. Garmatter age 91, of Lima passed away 4:16 a.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2022 at her home. She was born Dec. 22, 1930 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Albert and Hattie (Parlette) Hahn. She married Herbert L. Garmatter Oct. 6, 1962 and he preceded her in death Oct. 22, 2013.
Joy had worked for Perry Schools, retiring in 2010 from the food service department.
Survivors include children: Leota (Clarence) Rowe, Bennie (Cathy) Sloan, Michael (Peggy) Sloan, Leslie Long, Brian (Kim) Garmatter, and Darren (Racheal) Garmatter; 13 grandchildren: Tina Mason, Phil Mason, Bennie Sloan, III, Stacie (Troy) Green, Sr., Michael (Sherri) Sloan, Travis (Jen) Sloan, Michelle (Bryon) Cox, Joshua (Whitney) Garmatter, Braden Garmatter, Lucy Garmatter, Nichole Hoehn and Brian C. Garmatter; 18 great grandchildren; 24 great great grandchildren; siblings: Hope McBeth, Devonna (Gary) Webb and Bill (Linda) Hahn; inlaws: Pat Hahn and Bob Downey; several nieces and nephews and a close friend Becky Lane.
She was preceded in death by a son: Richard Sloan, grandson Jordan Garmatter; son-in-law Michael Long, and siblings: Irvin (Hazel) Hahn, Chuck (Mary) Hahn, Faith Reece, Nalletta ‘Neet’ Downey and Robert McBeth, brother-in-law.
Family will receive friends Wednesday 2 to 8 p.m. at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral will be noon Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Davis officiating and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Memorial contributions may be given to Mercy Health St. Rita’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
