June Reichelderfer, age 74 of Cridersville, passed Thursday morning, June 22, 2023 at home. She was born December 17, 1948 in Rochester, Indiana. Her parents Eugene Preston, Marjorie Jacobs Preston Watt and Wally Watt preceded her in passing. On February 11, 1972, she married her loving husband, David Reichelderfer, who survives in Cridersville.
June retired from Copeland Corporation as a supervisor and June 2, 1974 she became a proud member of Westview United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Cridersville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, Domino’s Club, and was active with the Chi Ki Lo Food Pantry. She loved all sports especially Ohio State, cheering on the Wapak Redskins, and she never missed a Cincinnati Reds game. June had strong opinions, a strong voice and was not afraid to let the referees know when they were wrong!
June and her husband started their life giving their children a strong Christian foundation. She was active in the church and working with the youth. A favorite activity and one she looked forward to, going to Lakeside with the youth group and helping in the week’s activities. She would cherish all holidays, family get togethers, playing holiday games – especially scavenger hunts. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and what it stood for.
She instilled into her family to be compassionate to others. Her words, “Be kind to everyone, you don’t know, they may be angels on earth” or “Don’t judge someone before walking in their shoes.” She wanted to be remembered for the person she was, and her hope was for others’ hearts to grow bigger and bigger with love for each other. She treasured her family and will be remembered for her big heart, being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, her love for people and the world.
She was blessed with 2 children and their spouses that she always considered a wonderful addition to her family – Margie and Steve Humes of Waynesfield; Jeffrey and Melanie Reichelderfer of Cridersville; 4 amazing grandchildren – Evan Humes, Quinn Humes, Rylan Reichelderfer; Noah Reichelderfer; a beautiful great granddaughter – Everleigh Humes; a brother – Jim (Connie) Preston of Xenia; 2 sisters – Micheale (Richard) Howe of New Knoxville; Ginger Holtkamp of New Knoxville and a sister-in-law – Cathy (David) Fritz of East Kingston, NH.
She was preceded in passing by mother and father-in-law Betty and Fred Reichelderfer, a sister-in-law – Mary Lou Preston and a brother-in-law – William Holtkamp.
