Karen Faye Hasting, 69, of Lima, died 8:59 p.m., March 3, 2011 at St. Rita’s Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 1, 1941 in Lima to Lester and Janice Stevely Crow who preceded her in death. On June 5, 1959 she married Glenn E. Hasting who survives.
Karen was a homemaker and retired LPN, having worked at Shawnee Manor 14 years. She was a graduate of Cridersville High School in 1959. She was a home child care provider while raising her own children for many years. At the age of 49 she graduated from Apollo Career Center with her LPN Degree, a life long dream. Karen was a member of Cridersville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading and tending her flower gardens. Karen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include 8 children: Shelly Blodgett of Lima, Kim (Dan) Kontak of Tiffin, Lori (Don) Pennington of Lincolnton, NC, Cathy (Darin) Miles of Dublin, Mike Hasting of Lima, Steve (Susan) Hasting of Wapakoneta, Tony (Jan) Hasting of Delaware and Kara (Josh) Lucas of Westerville, 16 grandchildren: Nathan, Corey, Sarah & Molly Blodgett, Amanda & Allison Kontak, Ashley Boyles and Brittany Pennington, Kelly and Kevin Miles, Danielle and Trevor Hasting, Mason and Grant Hasting, Zander and Sofia Lucas and one great grandson Camden Blodgett.
The family will receive friends Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The Funeral will be 11:00 a.m., Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Wiles officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery, Cridersville.
