Kenneth R. Walker, 72 of Lima, passed at 8:55 a.m., Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born August 19, 1948 in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Clarence Robert and Edith Mae Plue Walker. On May 10, 1980 he married Sally J. Wilson at Trinity Methodist Church, and she survives in Lima.
Kenneth graduated from Springfield Tech High School and had served with the National Guard Reserves. Ken left the Lima area and spent 35 years in Venice, Florida and moved back to Lima, Ohio about five years ago. He had worked in food management with Friendly’s, Wendy’s, had trained cashiers at Cracker Barrel, and managed an apartment complex.
He was a member of the Lafayette Congregational Christian Church. He loved sports and rooted on his favorite teams….. The Tampa Bay Rays baseball team, the Lightening hockey team, the Boston Patriots football, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and of course the Ohio State Buckeyes. What he treasured most was being near the water and walking the beach with his wife.
Also surviving is his twin sister – Marilyn Marvin of Sarasota, Florida; a brother – Richard (Ruth) Walker of East Long Meadow, Massachusetts; 3 nephews – Jason (Jenn) Greenan; Eric Walker; David Walker; 2 great nieces – Kassie Greenan and Taylor Greenan.
A celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at a later date in Lafayette Congregational Christian Church. Pastor Charles Moeller will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or the Lafayette Congregational Christian Church.
The family would like to extend a special ‘Thank You’ to the nurses and doctors at LMH in the ICU and the Hospice Unit for all the care they gave.
