Kyle Edward ‘Ed’ Beckett, Jr., age 58 of Lima, died at 11:32 a.m., Sunday, August 21, 2016 at Lost Creek Care Center. He was born February 17, 1958 in Lima, Ohio. His father, Kyle Edward Beckett, Sr. preceded him in death. His parents Phillip and Doris Pummell Orpurt survive in Lima.
Ed had worked at J.M. Sealt Company and was a 1976 graduate of Bath High School. He was a big sports fan, cheering on Ohio, especially the Cleveland Browns, Michigan, and Notre Dame. Locally he enjoyed coaching girls softball and attending his nieces and nephews sporting events.
He is also survived by 3 brothers – John (Teresa Gerkin) Beckett of Cridersville; Phil Orpurt, Jr. of Findlay; William Orpurt of Lima; 4 sisters – JoAnn (Mike) Graham of Vaugnsville; Vera (Bob) Neth of Rimer; Sandy (Eric) Youngpeters of Wapakoneta; Phillis (Jeff) Cowan of Lima; 10 nieces – Staci Spencer, Lori Hartman, Kari Miller, Amanda Aguirre, Nicole Neth, Ashlee Youngpeters; Emilee Youngpeters, Devin Orpurt, Tiy Orpurt, Lakin Orpurt; 6 nephews – Pahl Graham, John Beckett, Kody Orpurt, Steven Hawkey, Ben Cowan, Alex Cowan; 4 great nieces; 6 great nephews; and his best friend was his dog Lady.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents – William and Bernice Pummell; John and Whipple Beckett; and William and Betty Orpurt.
There will be a gathering of friends and family from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 29, 2016 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
