Larry N. Jay, age 70 of Lima, died early Tuesday morning, October 7, 2014. He was born April 22, 1944 in Lima, Ohio; to the late Harry Norman and Ethel Rose Niese Jay. On September 25, 1964 he married Sandra K. Huysman, who died January 10, 1986. He then married Ronna Lee Gardner who survives.
Mr. Jay retired as a lab tech from Procter & Gamble after 28 years. He graduated from Lima Senior High School in 1962 and then joined the National Guard. His hobbies included watching the Cincinnati Reds, golfing, camping, and years ago running.
His great joy and treasure was spending time with his family. He loved doing anything with his family especially driving the grandchildren in the golf cart.
Other survivors include 3 sons – John Jay of Columbus Grove; Jim (Christy) Jay of Lima; Jason (Natalie) Jay of Columbus Grove; a step son – Kevin (Rachel) Frinkel of Lima; 6 grandchildren – Matthew Jay, Cassie Jay, Sandra Jay, Noah Jay, Cameron Jay, Caitlynn Jay; 5 step grandchildren – Chelsi Shoemaker, Keith Frinkel, Wyatt Hilty, Samantha Hilty, and Jessie Frinkel; 2 brothers – David (Iris) Jay of Lima and Harry ‘Skip’ (Joy) Burleson of Lima; and a sister – Joyce (Brice) Freed of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a step father – Harry G. Burleson.
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Friday, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Pastor Aaron Kimmel will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
