Leon K. Blubaugh, age 74 of Waynesfield, passed at 8:10 p.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Auglaize Acres, Wapakoneta. He was born March 17, 1947 to the late Ray and Twila Shaulis Blubaugh. On September 15, 1994 he married Eleanor Schaffner Buffenbarger, who survives in Willshire.
Leon retired after 30 years as a HiLo operator with Ford Motor Company. After graduating high school in 1965 from Pandora, he received a diesel technician degree from NBC Technical College and continued learning, and earned many certificates. He was a past member of the NRA and U.A.W. #1219 of Lima. He loved to deer hunt, and enjoyed all hunting and fishing, and could cook up a good meal! He liked to look for a good bargain at garage sales and when he was able, attend gun shows. He will be remembered for his sense of fun, teasing people, and always looking on the bright side of life.
Also surviving are his 2 daughters – Michele Blubaugh of Bluffton; Leslie Blubaugh of Arizona; 3 step sons – Andy (Ellen Leatherman) Buffenbarger of Van Wert; Ray (Jennifer) Buffenbarger of Wren, Ohio; Jim (Cathy) Buffenbarger, Jr. of Eufula, Alabama; a step daughter – Ronaele (Ron) Blauvelt of Fort Wayne, Indiana; 15 grandchildren – Adam Buffenbarger, Aaron Buffenbarger, Amanda (Dallas) Stump, Jacob (Saddie, fiancee’) Buffenbarger, Joshua Buffenbarger, Ashley Buffenbarger, Zach buffenbarger, Trenton Buffenbarger, Landon Buffenbarger, James Crowell, Damiana (Tyler) Fritz, Sierra (James) Satathite, Austin Durham, Dominic Sabol, Daniel Spencer; 6 step grandchildren – Corey Blauvelt, Ashley Perry, Terzah Blauvelt, Kyle Leatherman, Ethan Leatherman, and Avery Leatherman; 7 great grandchildren – Calliope, Reneesme, Satorei, Aryana, Rylie, Everlie, and Tatum; 3 brothers – Wayne (Evelyn) Blubaugh of New Mexico; Lloyd Blubaugh of Ottawa; Kevin Blubaugh of McComb; 1 sister – Zola Dulle of Columbus Grove; several nieces and nephews; and his loving second family at Auglaize Acres.
Funeral services will begin 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
In honor of Leon, the family wishes everyone to dress casual in jeans, camo, or something green.
