Lillian Leona McKenzie, age 98 of Lima, passed at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at her granddaughter’s residence. She was born August 17, 1923, in Pike County, Kentucky to the late Eli F. and Pricy E. (Belcher) Epling. On September 26, 1945, she married Harold Edward McKenzie who passed on May 8, 2004.
Mrs. McKenzie retired after 25 years from St. Rita’s Medical Center. She loved sports and would always root on the Cincinnati Reds, the Cleveland Browns and was an avid Buckeye Fan. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her family and she treasured time with them. She was a wonderful baker and was known for her ‘Dutch Apple Pie’.
Survivors include 4 sons – Charles (Pam) McKenzie; Bill McKenzie; Robert McKenzie; Jeff (Patty) McKenzie; 1 daughter – Brenda Taylor all of Lima; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren with 2 on the way.
She was preceded in death by a grandson – Randy Marshall who passed April 8, 2001; 1 son – Rick McKenzie; 1 daughter – Phyllis Gerdemann; 1 brother – Kelly Elping; 2 sisters – Betty M. Donner and Beatrice I. Peters.
Funeral services will begin at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 7, 2022, at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice.
