Lillis C. Hemphill, age 94 of Waynesfield, died at 12:27 p.m., Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Lima Memorial Health Systems E.O.R. She was born June 29, 1920 in Auglaize County, to the late Marvin and Jane Horn Harrod. On February 1, 1947 she married Bernard Hemphill who died August 22, 1989.
Mrs. Hemphill was a homemaker and a member of the Auglaize County Senior Citizens. Hobbies included working of crossword puzzles, sewing, and baking. Her life centered around her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by children – Judy (Oswald) Tessier of Florida; William (Liza) Hemphill of West Virginia; and Mary (Joe) Stiles of Waynesfield; a daughter in law – Nancy Hemphill of Kentucky; grandchildren – Todd Webb, Tony Webb, Debbie (John) Votava; Jeni Holley; Sarah (Matthew) Vanderpool, Aaron (Tiffany) Hemphill; Tracie (Tom) Joseph; Barry Stiles, Thomas (Carlie) Stiles; Adam Stiles; great grandchildren – Riley Holley, Rachel Holley, and Peyton Joseph, Brylynn Flinn, Maddie Flinn, Raelynn Stiles, Griffin Stiles, Braeden Stiles, Grace Vanderpool, Issac Vanderpool, Evie Vanderpool, Ryan Hemphill, Dylan Webb, Chad Webb and Kiersten Webb.
He was preceded in death by a son Robert Hemphill, who died in 1994, a daughter Jane Hemphill and 4 brothers – Edwin, Eugene, Glen, Francis Harrod.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Don Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Willow Branch Cemetery, Waynesfield.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
