Louie W. Lyon, Sr., age 75 of Lima, died 4:55 a.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2010 in St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima. He was born July 6, 1935 in Zanesville, Ohio. The son of Bryon Milton and Ruth Isabelle Anderson Angles Evans. Both parents are deceased. He was adopted at an early age to James Forrest and Oma Georgianna Hyatt Lyon, who preceded him in death. On August 3, 1968 he married Linda Sue Dillon, who survives.
Mr. Lyon was a retired fire fighter with the Lima Fire Department. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 334. He was a member of the NRA, the Tri County Gun Club Association, and had previously been a Boy Scout Leader.
He was an active member of the “Counter Intelligence at IKES”, a big jokester loving to make people laugh, he never knew a stranger, and was kind to a fault. He enjoyed carpentry and loved to hunt deer. His biggest joy was his family and his grandchildren whom he adored.
Survivors include a son – Louie W. (Marjorie) Lyon of Lima; a daughter – Cynthia Stepp of Zanesville; 4 grandchildren – Leah Lyon, Sarah Stepp, Samantha Stepp, and Alex Lyon; 7 Siblings – Edna McClain of Mabank, Texas; Mary (D.J.) Webb of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; Ruth (Robert) Heslop of Zanesville, Ohio; Stella Malcolm of Zanesville, Ohio; Rolley (Debbie) Angles of Zanesville, Ohio; Elaine (Al) Ankerson of Lewis Center, Ohio; Dianna (Dean) Dawley of Galena, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a son Steve Lyon and 4 siblings – Cora E. Evans, Gladys M. Williams, Carol A. Romine, and Lewis B. Evans.
Memorial services will begin 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 26, 2010 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Father David Ross will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 1:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
