Dr. Marilyn Doerter
Marilyn Ann Doerter, 91, died Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in Chandler, AZ.
She was born June 4, 1930, in St. Louis, MO to the late Dr. Charles H. and Louise A. Baumann. On September 6, 1952, she married John F. Doerter, who passed away in 2005.
Marilyn graduated from the Ladywood School in Indianapolis, IN. She received a B.S. in Marketing and Home Economics from the University of Miami, and both an M.Ed. in Policy, Planning, and Evaluation and a Ph.D. in Education Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
Marilyn worked at various universities in Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio. She attended St. Mary’s Parish in Chandler, AZ and was a former member of St. Gerard Parish in Lima, OH. She was artistically talented and especially enjoyed watercolor painting. She loved cats, sewing, trying new recipes, staying in shape, and finding a good deal.
Survivors include a brother, Fr. Charles Baumann SJ; children, Thomas (Mary) Doerter of Gomer, OH, Janice Doerter of Chandler, AZ, and William Doerter of Hanford, CA; grandchildren, Allison Doerter, Michael Doerter, Julie Ashman, Heather (Brian) Carpenter, Jamie (Tyrell) Cleaves, and Lauren Doerter; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert Doerter; and sister, Betty Becherer.
Services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Pike Run Cemetery, in Gomer, OH. Local arrangements will be handled by Bayliff & Son Funeral Home.
