Mary E. Crabtree was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left the world on May 6, 2022, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Dementia.
She was born to Willard B. Bradley and Maxine Nichols Bradley on June 5, 1943. After attending Wurtland Schools, Mary married James A. Brown with whom she had four children: Terry Lee, Debra Lynn, James A. Jr., and Timothy Keith.
As a mother of a special needs child, Mary became an advocate for the No Child Left Behind Act of 1975 and was honored by State Representative Ron Cyrus with the Kentucky Colonel Distinction for this work.
Later in life, Mary was remarried to Jack Crabtree and lived happily in Lima, Ohio. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Jack, and by her three children Debra (Kirk) Shepherd, James (Kimberly) Brown and Tim Brown. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Terry Lee Brown. She has one stepdaughter, Jackie Crabtree Bramlette, and three grandsons, Brandon (Carolyn) Marshall, Dustin (Melanie) Marshall, and James Nathan (Stephanie) Brown. She also has eight great grandchildren: Ella Marshall, Dylan Marshall, Kennadi Marshall, Tucker Marshall, Levi Brown, Mason Brown, Abby Brown, and Colby Brown. Finally, she had one great great granddaughter, Harley Brown.
Please join us on Saturday afternoon of May 28, 2022. Visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Lloyd, Kentucky and will begin at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life will then be held at 2:00pm, followed by an Internment at Brick Union Cemetery. After the internment, all are welcome to return to the Fellowship Hall to share in refreshments.
