Mary Elaine Shock, age 74 of Lima, passed at 6:35 a.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022 at Lima Memorial Health Systems. She was born October 20, 1948 at home in Lima, Ohio to the late Herman A. and Mary Margaret Holmes Smith. On March 20, 1968 she married Robert W. Shock who survives.

After graduating high school, Elaine graduated from Frederick Beauty School and worked at several area beauty salons. She attended Apollo where she learned to make floral arrangements and specialized arrangements for weddings. She will be remembered for her love of family and her creative talents. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and all the wonderful get-togethers they shared.

Also surviving are 3 children Robert Shock III of Xenia; Mary (Mark) Fleeger of Middletown; Michael Patrick (Tasha Maree) of Cincinnati; 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; a close niece – Mary Jane Ruppert and her family of Wapakoneta; plus a niece and 2 nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister – Jane Orlu Smith and a cousin, which was her best friend – Kathy Eversole.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 4, 2022 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Dr. Rev. Daniel Messner will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2022 and from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday at the funeral home.

In remembrance of Elaine, memorial contributions may be made to a local Alzheimer’s or Dementia organization.
