Mary J. Davis, age 87, of Cridersville, died 12:02 a.m., Friday July 1, 2011 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born March 21, 1924 in Lima to Benjamin Leroy and Lucille Comb Burden, both parents are deceased. She married Donald Earl Davis March 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death April 17, 1990.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a life member of V. F. W. Post 8445 Auxilary. She had worked at the Lima Cigar Factory, the Lima Tank Plant and Chrysler- Dodge in Chicago during WW II. She also had been a Donut Dolly for the USO.
She had 4 children: Earl E. Davis, deceased, Nancy C. (Steve) Fisher of Ada, Diane K. Davis of Cridersville and Alan (Billie) Davis of Lakeview 3 grandchildren: Amanda J. Davis of Bellefontaine, John J. (Christine) Fisher of Ada and Steven M. (Hollie) Fisher of Ada, 4 great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Joyce Brown and Janet Hagerman both of Celina and a cousin Peggy Gray of Glendale, Arizona.
She was preceded in death by 8 siblings: Bea Cattell, Lillian Hughes, Hazel Belden, Richard Burden, Robert Burden, Joseph Burden, Rodger Burden and Jerry Burden and a step grandson: Damien Mabry.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday July 5 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wed. July 6 at the funeral home with Rev. Jonathan Spyker officiating and burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Perry Twp. Fire Dept. & Rescue Squad.
