Mary Jean Metz, age 92, of Wapakoneta died 10:30 p.m., Saturday at Wapakoneta Manor. She was born August 16, 1922 in Uniopolis to the late Oscar Marion and Nellie Maria Butler Snider. She married Willis Leroy ‘Bill’ Metz March 9, 1940 and he preceded her in death Nov. 29, 1993.
Mary had been a homemaker and retired Lab Tech in QC for Fisher Cheese. She was a member of Rousculp Church of Christ and founding member of Shawnee Church of Christ. She was a faithful Christian woman teaching Sunday School and Bible School for many years. She graduated from Cridersville High School in 1940 and enjoyed reading, gardening, painting ceramics and being with her family. Our hearts are broken but knowing she is with her Lord and loved ones gives us comfort to believe & cherish her memories.
Survivors include a daughter: Linda L. Loukos of Lima, 3 grandchildren: Lenny (Tammy) Stiles, Lori (Bob) Anderson and Tiffany (Jeff) Swoveland, 10 great grandchildren: Joshua, Preston (Ginger) Dustin, Tyler and Jacob Stiles, Amber (John) Neumeier, Dylan and Ryan Anderson, Zachary and Derrick Swoveland and 11 great great grandchildren; 5 brothers: Donald ‘Bud’ Snider, Danny (Mary) Snider both of Wapakoneta, Jerry (Pat) Snider of Oregon, Barry ‘Joe’ Snider of Beaverdam, 2 sisters: Helen Spyker of Lubbock, TX and Peggy (Carl) Hall of Wapakoneta and a sister-in-law Betty Snider of Lima.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Charles Robert ‘Dutch’ Snider, Oscar Snider Jr. and Doyle V. Snider and a son-in-law C. Michael Loukos.
The family will receive friends Wed. 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
The funeral service will begin 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Sandy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery near Uniopolis.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Alzheimers Association or Auglaize County Humane Society.
