Mary K. Kuehl, age 86 of Wapakoneta, died at 8: 37 p.m., Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health Care Systems surrounded by her family. She was born May 6, 1928 in Lima, Ohio; the daughter of the late Walter and Flossie Campbell Mertz. On March 18, 1950 she married Robert L. Kuehl, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Mrs. Kuehl was a homemaker. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeye fan and a co-chair of Alpha Mu Chapter of the Omega Sigma Sorority. She will be remembered for her great empathy of helping others, the wonderful meals she would make for her family and her love of flowers and gardening. Family was very important to her, treasuring time spent with them. One of her great pleasures was the outdoors, camping, boat rides, and especially traveling the water ways on the “Merry Mist.”
Survivors also include 3 sons – Daniel Kuehl of Lima; Karl Kuehl of Dublin, OH; Timothy (Andrea) Kuehl of Wapakoneta; a daughter – Sandra Winget of Wapakoneta; 11 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a son-in-law – Thad Staley of Ada.
She was preceded in death by a daughter – Susie Staley; a daughter in law – Cheryl Kuehl, 4 brothers – Waldo Mertz, Robert Mertz, Donald Mertz, Vic Mertz, 4 sisters – Margurite Beech; Betty Hines, Caroline Davidson, and Phyllis Partee.
Graveside services will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 17, 20154 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Charles Martindell will officiate.
There will be no services at the funeral home.
