Mary Katherine Kleman, age 87 of Wapakoneta, died at 4:06 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2015 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born June 14, 1928 in Lima, Ohio; to the late Don and Martha Geckle Harter. On August 5, 1950 she married Cornelius (Neil) Kleman, who survives.
Mrs. Kleman was co-owner and operator of Kleman’s Apartments and Rooms since 1952. She was also a land owner of Cridersville Speedway along with her husband Cornelius.
She enjoyed family and friends and her two great grandson’s Kolvyn and Brantsyn and country music, flea markets, thrift stores, craft shows, and visiting shrines. She was well known for her great garage sales and a lover of anything with butterflies.
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church since 1950 and of the pass Christian Mothers Sociality and a greeter in her church. Also she was active on St. Joseph’s prayer line. A very devoted caregiver to many, she enjoyed talking to her customers and always had a smile for them. She was a promoter of the Association of the Miraculous Medal since 1956 and had enrolled many people in it. She loved the rosary and prayed it everyday, carrying it with her faithfully.
She was a 1947 graduate of Continental High School where she had perfect attendance all 4 years. She then worked in Point Restaurant in Delphos, Ark of Sweets as a clerk in Lima, and Kay’s Jewelry Store as a bookkeeper in Lima and as a bookkeeper for her own business.
In her younger days she did housekeeping for many families. She worked at her in-law’s restaurant on 25A, which was called Kleman’s BBQ, and baked pies and cakes for the business. She was famous for her home made apple pie. She was an amazing person with a smile always on her face and will be missed by many.
Survivors also include a daughter – Diana Kay Kleman of Wapakoneta; a son Ronald Eugene Kleman of Wapakoneta; a granddaughter – Stacey Lynn (Jared) Clausing and two great grandsons, Kolvyn and Brantsyn Clausing.
She was preceded in death by a brother Donald J. (Marilyn) Harter.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta. Father Patrick Sloneker will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 101 East Pearl Street, Wapakoneta, OH.
