Mary LaVonne Hardesty, of Cridersville passed away Saturday evening, June 27, 2015, at St. Rita’s Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Allen County to the late Roy E. and Myrtle E. Little Thomas.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Melvin J. Hardesty, five children: Pam Weaver of Cridersville, Tim (Erica) Hardesty of Santa Fe, OH, Denny (Vickie) Hardesty of Byrdstown, TN, Mark (Vicki) Hardesty of Lima, Tom (Pati) Hardesty of Spencerville, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, a sister Vera Stillings of Lakeview and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother Don Thomas, a son-in-law Craig Weaver and a granddaughter Emily Hardesty Lehman.
She was a member of Lima Baptist Temple and attended the Heritage Class. She enjoyed sending cards to family and friends for all the special occasions, reading, fishing and camping in her earlier years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Hohman officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery near Spencerville.
Memorial contributions may be given to WTLW, the Lima Rescue Mission or a charity of the donor’s choice.
