Melvin E. ‘Mel” Carder age 68 of North Las Vegas, NV and formerly of Cridersville. He died Monday, June 26 at his home. He was born April 13, 1949 in Lima, Ohio to the late Wilbur Cylis and Erma Jeanette Alford Carder. He married Susan L. ‘Susie” Henderson June 7, 1969 and she survives in North Las Vegas, NV.
Mel had worked for Ford Motor Company in Lima for 38 years. He had been chairman of the U.A.W. Local 1219 and been on the union bargaining committee.
He was a member of Canyon Ridge Church and Cridersville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family.
Additional survivors include 2 sons: Tracy (Karla) Carder of North Las Vegas and Scott Carder of Savanah, GA, grandchildren: Brittny (Eric) Ross of North Las Vegas and Nicholas (Morgan) Sanchez, 2 great grandchildren Carder and Maddison Ross, a brother Harold ‘Nick’ Carder of Lakeview, 4 nephews: Jeff Carder of Cridersville, Joel (Susie) Carder of Cridersville, Mark (Krystal) Carder of Elida and Tim Carder of Cridersville, a niece Deb (Clifford) Mayes of Delphos and 10 great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Carder.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Mount Charleston, NV
