Loren E. Lunz, age 85 of Wapakoneta and formerly of Cridersville, died at 9:10 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta. He was born September 19, 1932 in Auglaize County, to the late Walter and Pauline Hollenbacher Lunz. On September 19, 1953 he married Anna Schroer, who survives in Wapakoneta.
Mr. Lunz retired from Ford Motor Company. He attended Blume High School, was a member of the St. Matthews Lutheran Church, and was in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His memberships include the American Legion Post 191 of Spencerville; the Moose Lodge at Inidan Lake; AMVETS, Eagles, V.F.W. Post 8445 and the and the American Legion Post 330 all of Wapakoneta. He was very proud of his service in the military and was in the 18th Infantry Regiment Honor Guard with the 1st Infantry Division known as the Big Red One, and a member of the Honor Guard for military funerals with the Spencerville American Legion and V.F.W.
Also surviving are 3 sons – Terry (Judy) Lunz of Bellefontaine; Timothy Lunz of Lima; Trent (Brenda) Lunz of Cridersville; 2 daughters – Tonia Johnston of Lima and Tamara (Phil) High of Lima; 15 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren; 2 sisters – Joanne Schnell of Wapakoneta; Ruth Ann (Glen) Hines of Wapakoneta.
He was preceded in death by a brother – Kenneth Lunz; a brother-in-law – Ted Schnell; and a son-in-law – Jimmy Johnston.
Services will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, near Cridersville. Rev. Sharon Stonerock will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Matthew Cemetery with military rites by the V.F.W. Post 6772 of Spencerville.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
