Nolan C Core, age 92 of Lima, died at 3:05 a.m., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born January 22, 1921, in Monroe Township, Allen County to Glen and Edith LaRue Core; both parents preceded him in death. He was first married to Marcella Usiak who died in 1953. On June 4, 1955 he married Mary Francis Spicer Zimmerman who died December 28, 2005.
Nolan was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and was his class president, served in U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He was a former member of American Legion Post 96, and of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and gardening. He was very proud of his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He is survived by five children: Kurt Zimmerman of Toledo, Ohio, Jane (Roger) Stokes of Lima, Ohio, Gerald Core M.D. of Los Angeles, California, Ronald Core of Alabama, and Dennis (Mary Kay “Kati”) Core of Lima, Ohio; Two Brothers James (Pauline) Core of Lima, Ohio, Jack (Shirley) Core of Bellefontaine, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by two brothers Glen Core and Richard Core.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, from 2- 4 and 6- 8 p.m., and 1 hour prior to services, Saturday.
Celebration of Life will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 29, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Truro Cemetery, near Columbus Grove. Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 516 and V.F.W. Post 9648.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
