O.C. Owsley age 70, of Elida died 11:23 p. m., Sunday Sept. 2, 2012 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born Nov. 1, 1941 in Vest, Kentucky to Magoffin and Sallie Handshoe Owsley, who preceded him in death. He married Shirley J. Murray May 26, 1962 and she survives in Elida.
Mr. Owsley had been a glazier for All Service Glass. He had attended Evening Light Tabernacle and Shawnee High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing music. He played guitar, bass and sang.
Survivors include 3 brothers: R. B. (Janice) Owsley of Wapak, Fred (Beverly) Owsley of Prescott, AZ, Floyd (Laree) Owsley of St. Marys; 5 sisters: Marlene Sturgill of Harrod, Nadine Graves of Goodlettsville, TN, Jearldine (Brent) Cattarene of Lima, Cathy (Greg) Walters of Waynesfield and Sue Long of Lima, a brother-in-law Steve Parker of Cridersville and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Irene Parker and 2 brothers-in-law: Ken Sturgill and David Graves.
The funeral service will be 11:00 a. m. Thursday Sept. 6 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home Cridersville with Elders David Tippie and Greg Walters officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
