Patricia Rae Davidson McKinley, age 86 of Cridersville, died at 5:52 a.m.,
Sunday, July 22, 2018 in St. Rita’s Medical Center’s emergency room. She was
born September 13, 1931 in Lima, Ohio to the late Laurence E. and Myrtle L. Rice
Davidson. On November 6, 1964, in New Haven, IN; she married Don McKinley who
preceded her in death January 1, 2011.
Mrs. McKinley was a 1949 graduate of Lima Central High School, and a graduate of Northwest Business College (currently Northwest Ohio University). She was a five year volunteer at St. Rita’s Hospital; a receptionist for the Spieles Chiropractic Office of St. Mary’s and a thirteen year employee of the State Farm Insurance Agency on North Jamison Street, Lima.
She worked at the Ester Toy School of Dance for five years teaching baton. She excelled at both teaching baton and performing at competitions and had won many awards. Several of her female students won state championships and one of her male students won the National Championship.
Because of her accomplishments, Baldwin-Wallace offered her a scholarship as a
baton twirler but she declined preferring to teach the art to others.
Surviving is her daughter Kelle’ (Tom) Coy of Ft. Wayne, IN;
grandchildren Brian (Krista) Diehl of Ft. Wayne; Katie Diehl of Ft. Wayne and
2 great-granddaughters. Two step-daughters Debbie (Mark) Henley of Colona, IL
and Tedi (Dennis) Bloom of South Carolina. Also, first cousin Bill (Carol)
Davidson of Buckland. Following the death of her brother-in law and
sister in-law, Ralph and Jo Ann McKinley, she raised niece Kathy Jo Lotz and
nephews Robert and Michael McKinley. She also claims as her grandchildren
Lindsay McKinley and Jaden and Sheridan Oneal. Also surviving her is her high
school sweetheart and significant other, Don Kinkle of West Columbia, SC.
Mrs. McKinley was a member of the Humane Society of the United States,
and a life member of Cridersville United Methodist Church
Funeral services will begin 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Bayliff & Son
Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Mark Hollinger will officiate. Burial will follow in St.
Matthew Cemetery, near Cridersville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 25th and one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Allen County (OH) Animal Shelter, the Hospice of St. Rita’s or the United Way of Lima.
