Patsy M. Lewis Thompson, age 81 of Lima, died at 9:40 p.m., Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Baton Rouge, Lima. She was born August 18, 1931 in Joplin, IL. She is the daughter of the late Jasper Cockrel and Emmily Johnson Christmas. Patsy was raised by her aunt and uncle – Wesley and Suzie Johnson. In 1948 she married Floyd H. Lewis who died June 9, 1992 and then in 1974 she married Robert D. Thompson who died December 10, 1998.
Survivors include 2 sons – Wesley D. (Vickie) Lewis of Lima; James L. (Christine) Lewis of Lima; 4 grandsons – James L.(Christie) Lewis II; David (Cindy) Lewis; Thomas (Gena) Lewis; Michael (Shannon) Lewis; a granddaughter – Brenda (Jason) Clark; 17 great grandchildren – Austin, Cole, Ethan, David, Tyler, Trenton, Brooke, Josh, Cassandra, Bayleigh, Brendhan, Jara, Jaron, Kaile, Madison, Xander, and Mason; great great granddaughter – Amiyah.
She had several brothers and sisters.
She was preceded in death by a daughter – Mary Ellen Lewis; a grandson – Robert Lewis and a brother – James Christmas.
Mrs. Lewis Thompson retired from 20th Century Bowling Lanes where she was a mainstay, loved bowling and especially keeping score ‘the old fashioned way.’ She was a member of Hume United Methodist Church, enjoyed crocheting, and reading. Family was very important to her and she valued the time spent with them. She will be remembered for pointing her finger, the holiday meals when she would prepare homemade noodles and other goodies, and her ornery sense of humor.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Rick Lamb will be officiating. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hume United Methodist Church.
