Peggy J. Gilroy, age 88 of Cridersville, formerly of Wapakoneta, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 24, 2021 at Otterbein-Cridersville Retirement Home. She was born December 20,1932 in Winterset, Iowa to the late Harold and Catherine Hartman.
Peggy graduated from Blume High School in 1951. She married Theodore Gilroy (June 1, 1973) who survives in Otterbein-Cridersville. In her earlier years Peggy and Ted enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida.
She was the beloved mother of Linda (Dan) Rohrbacher of Conroe, TX, Gloria (Phil) Meyer of Holland, MI, Jill (Dennis) Hegemier of Conroe TX, Susan (Mike Devitt) Gilroy Coan of Cincinnati, OH and Michael (Janet) Gilroy of Russells Point, OH. She is also survived by her brother, Ted Hartman, New Hope, MN.
Peggy was the proud grandmother of Danielle (Jonathan) McBride, Lindsay (Ryan) Rodriguez, Ben (Lindsay) Meyer, Caitlin (Troy) Nowotny, Caroline (Tad) Buffenbarger, Denise (Tim) Johnson, Jay (Ashley) Hegemier, Dustin (Tiffany) Gilroy, Kellie (Clint) Mondell, Meghan Gilroy, Molly Gilroy plus 21 great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by brother Herbert “Sonny” Hartman of Wapakoneta, OH and sister Cathy Horstman of Lima, OH.
Peggy cherished her time with her family. She dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, displaying their pictures around the family room walls. By sharing her love for playing cards and board games, cooking and baking, crafting and crocheting as well as gardening, they were her world and she was theirs.
A celebration of Peggy’s life will be held at a later date.
