Philip Gordon Meffley, age 64, of Livonia, Michigan, died 11:52 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was born September 11, 1949 in St Rita’s Hospital, Lima, Ohio to Gordon L. Meffley and Azuba Wolfe Meffley who both preceded him in death.
Mr. Meffley graduated from Shawnee High School in 1968; he then attended Ohio State University, Lima, and was an avid OSU fan. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1969, was stationed in Fort Polk, Louisiana and moved to Wauseon where he opened an audio store. He moved to Livonia, Michigan where he graduated from Lawrence Tech with a Bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science. He went to work for Hewlett-Packard in software design and then Agilent. He had been active with the boy scouts.
He is survived by the love of his life, Cyndy Glaser of Livonia, Michigan, and 3 sisters: Susan (Stephen) Frank of Sallis, Mississippi, Rebecca (Jack) Warecki of Campbell, California and Sarah (William) Finnegan of Marion, Ohio; 4 nephews: Andrew (Andrea) Frank, Benjamin (Amanda) Frank, Brandt Warecki and John Philip Finnegan; 2 Nieces: Alana Finnegan and Rachael Azuba Warecki; 4 great nephews: Nicholas, Blaine, Noah and Cole Frank; and 1 great niece Madeline Meffley Frank.
He is also survived by 1 uncle and 6 aunts: Smilie c. Wolfe of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Ellen Lowry of Cridersville, Susie (Norman) Redick of Lima, Ohio Harriet Neu of Columbus Grove, Ohio Gretchen (Noel) Ritchie of Wapakoneta, Ohio, Nancy Beemer of Cridersville, Ohio, and Martha Logan of St. Marys, Ohio, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by an uncle Freidan Wolfe.
Funeral services will begin 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 12, at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev Charlotte Hefner will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Matthew Cemetery, Cridersville.
The family will receive friends 2:00- 4:00 and 6:00- 8:00, Friday, October 11, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to Wounded Warrior Project.
