Richard A. ‘Jake’ Jacobs, age 81 of Lima, died December 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born January 8, 1930 in Hardin County. He is the son of Floyd B. and Lulu Stiles Jacobs. Both parents are deceased. On May 29, 1976 he married Mildred I. ‘Pat’ Poynter, who died January 25, 2009.
Survivors include 1 son – Timothy David (Angie) Jacobs of Lima; a daughter– Cheryl (Larry) Bowers of Atlanta, Georgia; a step son – Jerry (Sonya) Harbaugh of Lima; a step daughter – Ginger Patton of Lima; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother – Warren Jacobs of Lima and a sister Ruth Rolston of Waynesfield.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons – Steven Jacobs who died December 1, 2008; Rick Jacobs who died March 1, 1979; a daughter – Linda Johnson who died February 9, 2006; a brother – Harlin Jacobs; 3 sisters – Luella Bell, Rosaleen Whetstone, and Mary Ellen Houdenshield.
Mr. Jacobs was owner and operator of Jake’s Heating & Plumbing, Lima. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a life member of the V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima. He had worked 11 years as a fork lift operator with the Ford Motor Company. He believed in hard work, always keeping busy, and enjoyed collecting tools.
Funeral services will begin 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Tuesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
