Richard L. ‘Dick’ Hefner, Jr. of Lima passed away 6:39 a.m. Sunday, July 24 at St. Rita’s. He was born Oct. 13, 1941 in Lima to the late Richard L. and Virginia L. (Frail) Hefner, Sr. He married Kathy Barrows Oct. 25, 1970 and she survives in Lima.
Dick was a retired pipefitter from Ford Motor Company in Lima. He was an avid Sportsman and loved to garden. He was a member of North Park Community Church in Lima.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and would do anything he could for people, often helping complete strangers.
Additional survivors include a son Mark Hefner of Tacoma, WA, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Anne (Tom) Patton of Findlay and Cyndie ‘Dutch’ (Terry) O’Bryant of Cumming, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son Kenneth A. Hefner and a sister Mary Goodwin.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 30th from 10 to 12 at North Park Community Church 1321 E. Elm Street, Lima. The memorial will follow at noon with Pastor Jim Baker officiating. Entombment will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
