Robert A. ‘Bob’ Meeker age 88, of Lima died Friday, Oct. 28 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1923 in Lima to Edgar and Violet Weaver Meeker. He married Wanda M. Crouch July 6, 1947 and she preceded him in death Sept. 27, 1969.
Survivors include Children: Robert L.(Toneta) Meeker of Elida, Linda Craft, Shirley (Danny) Hefner and Patty (Mike) Hefner all of Lima, 4 grandchildren Pamela (Rollie) Rhodes, Rusty (Lisa) Craft, Missy (Sam) Blakeley, Jr., Brian Hefner, great grandchildren: Courtney, Briana, Troy, Keaton, Cory, Kara, Danielle, 2 great great grandsons Jacob and Xander, brothers: Eldon ‘Jack’ (Jan) Meeker of Elida and Lynn (Vicky) Meeker of St. Mary’s several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Mike Meeker.
He was preceded in death by a son Ronald E. Meeker and a great granddaughter Lindsay Nicole, a twin brother Richard, siblings Jim, Gary ‘Dean’ Meeker and Kate Ferenczi.
Mr. Meeker was a life member of V. F. W. Post 1275 and American Legion Post 96. He had served with the U. S. Army during WW II. He had been a brake operator for Davis Enamel and Milcor. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and was loved by many.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday Nov. 2 at Bayliff and Son Funeral Home, Cridersville with Pastor Kenny Rader officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima and military rites will be provided by V. F. W. Post 1275. The family will received friends 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
