Robert Joseph Carder, age 84 of Cridersville, died at 5:25 p.m., Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Cridersville Health Care from an extended illness. He was born December 1, 1929 in Delphos, Ohio; the son of the late William O. and Josephine Yoakam Carder. On July 3, 1954 he married Donna Jean Thomas, who survives.
Mr. Carder retired as a heavy equipment operator from Ohio Operating Engineers after 37 years. He was a U. S. Marine veteran for four years during the Korean War. He was a joy and a blessing to many, and will be truly missed by all. He loved playing cards, reminiscing about his work, and his service in the military. The family wishes that everyone honor “Bob” by being generous and kind to someone else.
He is also survived by a daughter – Debra K. (Rex A.) Louth of Wapakoneta; a granddaughter – Janelle K. (Clint) Motter of Cridersville and a great granddaughter – Reagan Kay Motter of Cridersville; 2 siblings – William Carder of Lima and Alberta “Toots” (Jack) Hefner of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Rae Foreman, a grandson Jeremy A. Louth and 2 sisters – Helen Avery and Beatrice Sneary.
Private family graveside services will be held in St. Matthew Cemetery. Rev. Phyllis Fetzer will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
