Rodney A. Slechter, age 49 of Lima, passed from this life on Monday, February 1, 2021 at approximately 12:15 a.m. He was born in Lima, Ohio on May 31, 1971 to David and Karen Volbert Slechter who survive in Lima. He is also survived by his wife of 27 years Mendy Spicer.
He had worked Allied Environmental Services, Interdyne Environmental Services and AA Liquid Waste all of Lima. Although he faced a myriad of challenges in his life, he had a gift of making friends everywhere he went. He was a kind and selfless individual who was always willing to help others. He especially loved his role as a Papaw to his granddaughter Payton. Rodney had a vivacious personality and always made people around him laugh.
He loved to fish, and always talked about his fishing trips with his Grandpa Volbert and how his Grandpa Slechter taught him how to repair lawn movers at 7 years old. Those times were special to him. He also enjoyed cooking, he called himself a Master Chef, (but that was debatable). LOL
His family loved him dearly and he will be sadly missed by all.
Also surviving are his children – Makayla ‘Baby Girl’, Matthew Slechter, Joseph Slechter and Jessie Chandler; his siblings – Renee’ Slechter of Lima; Brad Slechter of Delphos and Craig (Sherri) Slechter of Lima; a niece – Paige and nephew – Ty; 3 great nieces – Piper, Remi, and Reese; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will begin 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville where there will be a time of sharing memories of Rodney.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 – 4:00 p.m., Friday, February 5th at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
