Ronald E. Yoakam, 87 died at 10:00 A.M. April 29, 2021 at his home with his wife and granddaughters by his side. He was born June 25, 1933 in Allen Co. at his grandparents farm on Breese Rd. to Arthur and Mary (Strawbridge) Yoakam who preceded him in death. On June 25, 1954 he married his wife of almost 67 years D. Jo-An Baum who survives.
Ron retired from Sears after 29 years of service. He was a member of Hume United Methodist Church. He was a member and past master of Acadia Lodge #306 Free and Accepted Masons, member and past high priest of Spencerville chapter #169 Royal Arch Masons and member and past illustrious master of Delphos Council #72 and secretary to these three bodies. Also member of Shawnee Commandery # 14 and order of Eastern Star Spencerville # 130. He was a Pas District Deputy Grand High Priest 2nd District and also Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton, being a 32 Masaon. He was a 1951 graduate of Shawnee High School. He was a 21.5 Navy Vetern of the Korean Conflict. He was an active amateur radio operator for over 60 years, his call being K8CLV. He was a member of Buckeye Farm Antiques since their beginning and collected antique tractors an gas engines. He also was a volunteer fireman and chief of Hume Volunteen fire department. He loved to play with several local groups at council on aging Lima and area nursing homes.
Survivors also include 3 grand daughters. Jessika (Eric) Phillips, Ashley Yoakam, Aimee Yoakam, also 7 great grandchildren. A daughter-in-law, Shelly Yoakam, 1 – step grandson Josh (Jennifer) Williams, 2 step granddaughters, Heather (AJ) and Tasha Goldon, and 7 great children and several step great grand children. 1 brother, David Yoakam and a niece and 2 nephews. He was preceded by a son Greg Yoakam in April 2018 and a nephew, Donald Yoakam in December 2020.
Memorial service will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 7, 2021 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. Rev. Rick Lamb will officiate. Military rites will be observed by V.F.W. Post 1275 of Lima.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 Friday at the funeral home.
