Ronald Ray Samons, Sr., age 74 of Lima, passed at 9:23 a.m., Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born January 3, 1948 in Prestonsburg, Kentucky to the late Maryland and Ilene Brummit Samons. He married Phyllis Legge who passed in 2006.
Mr. Samons retired as a welder with the railroad. In his earlier years he loved being outdoors and listening to country music.
He was blessed with a son – Ronald R. Samons, Jr. of Lima; 3 daughters – Pattie Hunter Baker, died 2022; Tonia (Tiffany) Leirer of St. Marys; Veronica (Dan) Snider of Uniopolis; a son-in-law – Greg Baker of Kettering; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; siblings – Jerry (Janet) Stewart of Lima; James Samons of Lima; Edith Starkey of Lima; David Samons of Lima; and Donnie Samons of Lima.
He was preceded in death by siblings – Carl Samons, Bernice Wood, William Wilcox, and Douglas Samons.
Graveside services will begin 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis. Pastor William Turner from the Open Door Baptist Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the funeral home to help cost.
