Roy J. Truesdale age 102 years, of Cridersville, OH passed away at 6:50 p.m., Feb. 10, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Roy was born Dec. 23, 1919 in Auglaize County to the late Roy and Florence (Harps) Truesdale. Roy graduated from Blume High School in 1938 and was thought by his family to be the last survivor of his graduating class. On Oct. 19, 1946 he married Betty M. Ruck and she passed away on Oct. 30, 1979. On Aug. 10, 1983 he married LaVon Johnson and she passed away on April 27, 2016.
Survivors include 2 sons: Tim L. (Doreen) Truesdale of Antioch, CA and Barry A. (Jeri) Truesdale of Wapakoneta, OH; 2 stepsons: Terry (Laney) Johnson of Auburn, Maine and Lance (Carolyn) Johnson of Troy, OH and 1 stepdaughter Cathy (Danny) Stanford of Lima, OH; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 sisters-in-law: Lilas Truesdale of Shawnee, OH and Sue Truesdale of Wapakoneta, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 brother: Robert Truesdale and George Truesdale and a sister Alberta Gearing and brother-in-law Don Gearing.
Roy was a WW II veteran and served in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. After serving in the military, he returned home and was co-owner of Club Restaurant in Wapakoneta, owned a gas station in Uniopolis, owned Truesdale Realty Co. was an insurance salesman and held several other short term jobs before retiring at 87 years of age.
As Roy continued the aging process he was very fortunate to be able to remain in his own home with the assistance of loving family members and the excellent care of Mercy Health Hospice of Lima, OH.
Funeral will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville with Pastor Gary Bragg officiating. Visitation will be from 11 to 1.
Preferred memorials to Mercy Health Hospice, Lima, Ohio. The hospice team who made their visits to Roy were a true blessing form God and we would like to publicly thank each one of them for their excellent care and support.
