Ruth D. Oehlhof Bowersock, died 2:35 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2012 in Stuart, Florida. She was born September 20, 1918 in Spencerville, Ohio to George and Trilby Rupert Oehlhof, who preceded her in death.
On August 10, 1943 she married Gerald V. Bowersock who preceded her in death March 27, 1993.
She had worked at the St. Mary’s Woolen Mills and St. Rita’s Medical Center. She also worked at Westinghouse Electric Corporation during World War II and volunteered at the Service Men’s Canteen in Lima, Ohio.
She was a member of Shawnee Alliance Church. She loved her family and small prayer group. She liked music, crossword puzzles and to read.
She had been a member of the W.C.T.U. (Women’s Christian Temperance Union) and a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #6772 in Spencerville, Ohio. She had also belonged to the Keenager Group, The Spencerville Hobby Club, and the Westinghouse Retirees Club.
Survivors include one son, Terry L. Bowersock of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, one daughter – Barbara Hartinger (Steve) Konst of Hobe Sound, Florida; 6 grandchildren – Eric Bowersock, Justin Hartinger, Heather Bowersock Gilman, Wendy Bowersock Marcum, Heidi Bowersock Malone, Michelle Kramer Duplaga and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter – Janice K. Kramer (I. Scott) who died August 14, 1997.
Funeral services will begin 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 11, 2012 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Daniel Mesner will officiate. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2:00 at the funeral home.
