Sharon “Sue” Penland

Sharon ‘Sue’ Penland, age 78 of Lima, passed at 4:15 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2023 at Van Crest of Delphos.  She was born April 21, 1944 in Bell County, Kentucky to the late William and Mary Marie Janeway Margarves.  On June 5, 1963 she married Bill Penland who passed January 29, 2015.

Sue had worked at the Trane Company in Lexington, Kentucky.  Her life revolved around her family and she always told it, the way she saw it.

She is survived by 3 daughters – Tammy (Lee) Stroud of Wapakoneta; Kelly (Tony) Doss of Wapakoneta; Stacy (Brian) Miller of Lima; 8 grandchildren – Stephanie (William) Cunningham of Peculiar, MO; Jennifer (Richie) Hawley of Pleasant Hill, MO; Russell (LeeAnn) Stroud of Wapakoneta; Cassandra (Harley) Lane of Van Wert, Ohio; Steven (Kirsten) Doss of Wapakoneta; BJ (Rebecca) Penland of Nicholasville, KY; Jake Penland-Miller of Lima and Belle Miller of Lima; 2 brothers – Michael Margraves of Lima; Alan (Denise) Margraves of Wapakoneta; a sister – Jane (Donald) Brown of Cridersville; 12 great grandchildren; a sister-in-law – Marcie Margraves; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son – Billy Penland; 3 brothers – Bruce Margraves, Tom Margraves, and Gary Margraves; 2 sisters – Bett Gossard and Mary Jo Howell; and a son-in-law – Tony.

A service will begin 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Lima Missionary Baptist Church. Revs. Terry Brock and Rev. Ken Waldroup will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family or Van Crest of Delphos Nursing Home to help with expenses.
