Shirley A. Newland age 83, of Cridersville passed away Friday, May 14, 2021 at Shawnee Manor with her husband at her side. She was born Feb. 6, 1938 in Lima to the late John A. and Beatrice (Weatherill) Moyer. She married Ottis ‘Sonny’ Newland on Dec. 6, 1958 and he survives in Cridersville.
Shirley had been a member of Westside United Methodist Church and a member of the former High Street United Methodist Church, both in Lima. She was a proud graduate of Shawnee High School in 1956, the last class in the old high school. Shirley enjoyed luncheons with her classmates and family events. She had great pride coming from Cridersville and attending The Ohio State University.
Additional survivors include 5 sons: James of Toledo, John (Sara) of Lima, Jeffrey of Lima, Joseph (Joan) of Lima and Jason of Cleveland; 4 grandchildren: Kyle (Shelbi), Keenan, Kurtis and Logan; 2 great grandchildren, and 2 brothers: John A. (Apryl) Moyer of Vero Beach, FL and Charles Moyer of Athens, Ohio.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at Shawnee Cemetery with Pastor Josh Andrews officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Shirley loved her family and friends. I always enjoyed chatting with her around the many campfires at Sun Valley. She was a wonderful person and will always be remembered.
