Shirley Ann Althaus Sharp Thompson , age 71 of Lafayette, died Thursday at St. Rita’s Medical Center. She was born January 24, 1939 in Harlan County, Kentucky. She is the daughter of Reno Shore Sneed Watkins.
Other survivors include children– Katrina (Jeff Mink) of Centerville, Ohio; Constance (David) Brown of Lima; Kimberly (Lee) Monday of Lafayette; Roger K. Sharp, Jr. of Lima; Christina Hornic of Lima; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a foster sister – Glendoris VanWaning of Lafayette, a brother Ronnie Cox of Elida, and many friends.
She is preceded in death by a son – David Keith Sharp and foster parents Lorne and Dorothea Althaus.
Mrs. Thompson had worked as a suite keeper at the Homewood Suites in Fairborn and as a nurse’s aid in Cridersville Health Care. She enjoyed traveling, cruising,
gardening, singing and playing the piano. She treasured her family and cats.
Funeral services will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 13, 2010 at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville. The Rev. Terry Brock will officiate. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association.
