Stanley W. Carder, age 80 of Lima, passed at 6:55 p.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his residence, with his family by his side. He was born July 15, 1941 in Delphos, Ohio to the late Lewis ‘Pat’ and Martha (Bensman) Carder. On June 20, 1964 he married Judith Ann Glorioso, who survives.
Stanley graduated from Delphos St. Johns High School. He received his Bachelor’s of Education from Ohio Northern University and earned his Master’s of Education from Bowling Green State University. He went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Education from the University of Dayton to further his career as a licensed professional counselor. He taught for 30 years in the Shawnee, Perry, St. Gerard’s, St. John’s and Columbus Grove Schools and was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church. He was a Martha Jenning Scholar, was in the Who’s Who in Education book and was a former board member of Elida and Apollo school boards. Stanley was a member of the Eagles Lodge #370 of Lima, a board member of the Allen County Council of Aging, and a former member of UNICO. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
Also surviving is a son – John Lewis (Tammy) Carder of Archbold ; 2 daughters – Marna (Robert ‘Bob’) Gehr of Lima; Dr. Lynnea (Jeffrey) Radel of Indiana; 7 grandchilderen – Amber (Jason)Wilcox, Jenna (Steven)Perkins, Maggie Carder, Megan Carder, Kadin Carder, Bob (Tiffini)Gehr, Brent Gehr; 7 great grandchildren; and a brother – Timothy (Beverly) Carder of Lima.
He was preceded in death by a brother – Thomas Carder and 2 sisters – Marlene Boyer and Denna Point.
There are no public visitations or services planned.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the West Ohio Food Bank or the Allen County Council of Aging.
