Ted E. Maxwell, age 73 of Cridersville died at 6:45 a.m., Sunday, June 20, 2010 in St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born June 22, 1936 in Lima to Donald and Audrey Steinecker Maxwell. Both parents are deceased. On June 16, 1967 he married Eileen Potts Mooney who survives.
Mr. Maxwell retired after 30 years service with the U.S. Postal Service where he worked in vehicle maintenance. He served in the U.S. Air force from 1954 to 1966. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church where he had been an usher for 12 years. He had been a Cub Scout Leader, coached girls softball, and loved bowling. He received Airman of the Month Award and was a former member of American Legion Post 96.
Additional survivors include 3 sons, Michael (Cathy) Mooney of Alexandria, VA, Charles (Alba) Mooney of Springfield, VA and Bob (Margaret) Mooney of Lima, OH, 3 daughters , Peggy (Joe) Bailey of Cridersville, OH, Dana (Ron) Spears of Lake Orion, MI and Tammy (Jim) Wootton of Lima, OH, 1 sister, Betty (Ralph, deceased) Ribley of Lima, OH, 10 grandchildren, Kenny & Staci Spears, Brandon Kundert, Brian & Corey Bailey, Robert Mooney, Jr., Kate Mooney and Courtney, Thomas & Jason Roby and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Teri Spitnale, 3 brothers, Dickie Maxwell, Donald R. Maxwell and Jimmie Maxwell and 1 sister, Donna Bidwell.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in St. Charles Catholic Church, Father Steve Blum, Celebrant. Burial will follow in Gethsemani Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
